Biography

As editorial director of Edições Globo Condé Nast, Daniela Falcão oversaw Vogue Brazil together with other magazines in the joint-venture publishing portfolio, which includes the Brazilian editions of GQ, Casa Vogue and Glamour.

An alumnus of Universidade de Brasilia, Falcão began her career in journalism working at a local newspaper in Bahia, Salvador before applying for a trainee programme at the Folha de São Paulo newspaper, where she would end up working as a reporter for eight years.

Starting in 1995, Falcão mainly worked in the politics section before spending a year in New York through a project scholarship for young talent. On her return, Falcão spent two years at São Paulo’s other leading newspaper Jornal do Brasil and eventually became sub-editor of the weekly Sunday magazine. In 2003, Falcão joined São Paulo-based pop culture and lifestyle magazines TPM and TRIP as editorial director.

From 2005 until early 2016 Falcão was editor-in-chief of Vogue Brazil. In the role she was credited with having re-established the luxury magazine’s prominence within the global fashion community with a mix of fashion forward editorials shot by some of the world's most celebrated photographers.

A keen advocate for Brazil and mindful of its growing international profile, Falcão features key landmarks such as the Iguazu Falls in editorial shoots and regularly places Brazilian personalities on the cover. In 2010, Falcão also oversaw Condé Nast’s joint venture arrangement with Latin-American media company Globo Organisation that resulted in new management over the publication’s printing and circulation.

In early 2016, she left her post at Vogue Brazil and was promoted to editorial director of Edições Globo Condé Nast. In 2020, Falcão stepped down from the role, just months after Buzzfeed published an article alleging she bullied employees.
