Biography

Robbie Spencer is a stylist and the former creative director of Dazed magazine. He is known for his striking editorial imagery and ability to find beauty in the unexpected. Described by Simone Rocha as “right on the moment,” Spencer’s work combines up-and-coming designers, artists and photographers with extensive industry knowledge and reverence.

Spencer joined the bi-monthly British style magazine, which covers music, fashion, film, art and literature, in 2004 before being appointed creative director in 2013.

He initially envisioned a career in the art world, wanting to be a curator, spatial designer or set stylist, and his art background has had a powerful influence on his approach to styling. “I approach styling from an idea of executing an image or executing a space, as opposed to purely from a clothing standpoint,” he told BoF.

Spencer has styled numerous magazine covers including Dazed, AnOther, AnOther Man, Vogue Italia, M Le Monde and Re-Edition, working with talent such as Rihanna, Timothée Chalamet, Vivienne Westwood, Lupita Nyong’o and Solange. He works as a consultant for Simone Rocha, Craig Green , Y/Project, A-COLD-WALL, and Moncler. He has also worked with the likes of Givenchy, Maison Margiela , Calvin Klein , Ambush, Ann Demeulemeester and Philip Lim, as well as photographers Harley WeirMario Sorrenti , Tyler Mitchell , Paolo Roversi ,  Oliver Hadlee Pearch and Arnaud Lajeunie.
