Having begun her career working as a production assistant for Bruce Weber, Ashley Brokaw is now considered one of the industry's top casting directors. Since launching her own agency in New York in 2005, Brokaw has built up an extensive client list that includes Balenciaga, Proenza Schouler and Rag & Bone, casting for shows in London, Milan and Paris.
Working regularly alongside photographers such as Steven Meisel, David Sims and Patrick Demarchelier, Brokaw has collaborated on a number of editorials for fashion publications such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, Interview and WWD, and has also sourced talent for advertising campaigns, such as Eva Mendes for Calvin Klein and Amber Valetta for Coach.
“She has a foresight. She has a stamp of approval,” he says. “She finds faces, and she takes risks on faces. All the faces that we see today are passed through Ashley.” Designer Jonathan Anderson told T Magazine.
In early 2012 Brokaw was appointed as casting director for the Prada and Miu Miu brands, succeeding a longstanding collaboration the brands have held with Russell Marsh. Brokaw has since overseen the brand's catwalk shows and advertising campaigns.
