Global Fashion School Rankings 2016

Polimoda

Florence, Italy

Polimoda’s location in the Renaissance city of Florence plays a significant part in its student experience. The school’s connections with the fashion industry are also enhanced by the proximity of the nearby leather industry and garment manufacturers of Tuscany. Students in both the undergraduate and masters courses come from a wide variety of international backgrounds, and the school’s overall level of international diversity is increasing year-over-year. The BA programme reports a relatively low student-teacher ratio of about six to one, meaning that each student is able to develop their skills at their own pace. Students scored the faculty, campus and workrooms highly in our survey. Over 80 percent of both undergraduate and postgraduate students felt satisfactorily prepared for the industry. About 60 percent of undergraduate students found a job within 6 months of graduation.

Student & Alumni Comments

"Thanks to the strong team of teachers and unique methodology, the school has developed my strategic thinking and analytical skills applied to fashion, along with my aesthetic sensitivity."

Alumni

"Great experience in terms of the exposure to the world of fashion. Coming from a merchandising background, my education in Polimoda gave me a 360 degree prospective on Fashion, branding and design."

Alumni

"The quality of brand management MA program was good. But I was disappointed with career services for international students. The school only promoted EU students. And many internationals selected Polimoda because of the school’s ties with fashion’s professional network."

Alumni

"A very formative, simulating experience. For 9 months, you are not considered as a student but as a worker, with real responsibilities and objectives to reach."

Student

"Overall the experience was satisfactory, but I had higher expectations for assistance in finding job placements - not only for EU students but also for international students."

Alumni

"A pretty decent experience to get to know the fashion industry first-hand. Courses are well-designed and lecturers are qualified. However, I don't think the business education is in-depth enough for a graduate student. It's basic entry level, and, in reality, it is far more difficult than that."
