Ali Pirzadeh transforms hairstyling for mannequins and models into a form of art, twisting, sculpting and painting hair into imaginative shapes that help clients ranging from Alexander McQueen and Louis Vuitton to Acne Studios and Net-a-Porter to narrate their brands’ stories.
Born in Iran, Pirzadeh studied beauty in Stockholm before eventually moving to London, having signed on to international creative agency CLM. Along the way, Pirzadeh’s hair sculptures have appeared in publications such as BON, Dazed & Confused, Gentlewoman, i-D, Numero, POP, W and Vogue.
Camilla Åkrans, Liz Collins, Matt Lambert, Txema Yeste and Venetia Scott are just a few of the photographers collaborating with Pirzadeh. He also is a consultant to numerous celebrities including Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Florence Welch, Dido and Lorde.
Pirzadeh was named Elle’s hairstylist of the year in 2012 and 2016. His work regularly appears in Vogue, W, Dazed, Numero and Harper’s Bazaar. In 2019, he founded AP Wigs to provide a collection of fashion-forward, full-lace bespoke wigs.
