Wife-and-husband duo Elin Kling and Karl Lindman are the designers behind Toteme, a Stockholm-based contemporary brand that has grown into a label known for a minimalist, uniform-way-of-dressing style and sharp, curated assortment offered at accessible luxury prices. The brand's offering revolves around utility: a small number of quality pieces that present a plethora of styling options to the wearer.
Prior to founding Toteme, Kling worked in fashion media, garnering an expansive following for her blog in the late aughts. She launched her own print fashion magazine, Styleby, in 2011.
Lindman began his career in the industry as a model, and later served as art director at Interview magazine.
The pair launched Toteme out of New York City in 2014, where they were living at the time. Two years later, they returned to Stockholm, where the brand opened its first flagship in 2019.
Today, Toteme operates stores around the world, including a flagship in New York and three locations in China, and can be found in retailers such as Ssense, Net-a-Porter and MatchesFashion. Last year, it launched into the accessories and footwear categories.
