Peter Baldaszti is the co-founder and chief executive of Nanushka and parent company Vanguards; Sandra Sandor is Nanushka’s co-founder and creative director.
Sandor founded the understated, slouchy and sustainability-conscious clothing line Nanushka (named after her childhood nickname) in 2006 after graduating from London College of Fashion . She grew the line to annual sales of £1.34 million in 2016. That year, Baldaszti, Sandor’s life partner, joined the brand as chief executive, and helped propel it forward.
Baldaszti was born in Budapest, Hungary. The serial entrepreneur founded his first company, a tech recruitment platform, as a university student before transitioning to the hospitality industry, where he opened a number of restaurants, clubs and other ventures.
Nanushka was one of the first contemporary fashion brands to power its growth through influencer marketing. Its clients have included the Duchess of Sussex, Rihanna, Timothée Chalamet and Paul Mescal among its clients. The brand was one of the first to pull out of Russia following its 2022 invasion of the Ukraine and partnered with the Hungarian Charity Service of the Order of Malta to provide resources to refugees.
Following Nanushka’s success, in 2020 Baldaszti and investor Agoston Gubicza founded Vanguards — a fund that invests in and looks for synergies among digitally-adept contemporary brands. The burgeoning group now includes Hungarian label Aeron, known for its knitwear, and Milanese brand Sunnei, the label designed by Loris Messina and Simone Rizzo.
In 2021, Nanushka made the Financial Times’ 1000, a list of the 1,000 fastest growing companies in Europe.
