Located south-west of London in Kingston-upon-Thames, Kingston University offers fashion design programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. The courses are taught at the Knights Park campus at the university’s faculty for art, design and architecture. According to our survey, students are very satisfied with university resources including the library and study materials. Another strongpoint is the availability and application of innovative technology and IT, combined with the excellent technical skills of faculty members. Most students rated their teachers highly, but identified they were not satisfied with the marketing and business content in the curriculum. According to student comments, the school offers strong internship opportunities and has close ties to the fashion industry. Career services were also deemed above average compared to other schools and an impressive 91 percent of student survey participants found employment in the industry within six months after graduating.
"Overall, I have enjoyed my time at Kingston University. A first year that allows you to try out a variety of areas such as illustration and styling and photography, combined with an industry based second year really prepares you for the final year. Being able to work abroad on a summer internship was definitely my highlight, as I have gained valuable contacts in the industry and I am able to sell myself a lot better on my CV."
"Valuable, creative yet commercial teaching methods, ideal skills needed for the industry. Fantastic university. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. I would highly recommend it to anyone."
"Overall I am satisfied with my course, especially how much I learned, improved and progressed during my degree. However, I wish I learned more about pattern cutting and sewing. I also expected more permanent job options for non-EU students."
"Great! the opportunities in the second year for placements and internships are amazing. Students entered and won international placements through projects with companies such as Brooks Brother, H&M, Urban Outfitters and Tommy Hilfiger to name just a few."
