Dominic Nowell-Barnes

Dominic Nowell-Barnes is the founder and chief executive officer of the Dubai-based streetwear brand The Giving Movement. The company has made philanthropy a core part of its business model, donating $4 for every item sold to charities that support underprivileged children. As of early 2023, the label has raised over $4 million for the Delhi, India-based non-profit Harmony House and childhood education organisation Dubai Cares. 

The Giving Moment is also known for its focus on sustainability. Items are produced locally in the United Arab Emirates from materials such as recycled polyester and organic cotton. By 2022, the brand was stocked by prominent retailers in the Middle East including That Concept Store, Level Shoes and Tryano in Dubai, Harvey Nichols Riyadh and Rubaiyat in Saudi Arabia, Galeries Lafayette Doha in Qatar and e-commerce platforms Ounass, Namshi and Boutiqaat. In the same year, the company raised $15 million in funding to invest in geographic expansion, particularly targeting the US market, and introducing new categories such as kidswear.

“Our vision for TGM (The Giving Movement) is to take market share from non-sustainable brands and [give] back in order to transform the industry. Having clothes to wear is a necessity and our goal is to make sure those clothes are both good for the planet and the people on it,” Nowell-Barnes told The Khaleej Times in 2021.
