Trained both in womenswear, Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida subscribe to the Helmut Lang school of thought, where ‘fashion is about attitude, not hemlines’.

While their aesthetic evokes raw effortlessness, the pair’s technical sensibilities are revealed in the construction of each piece.Cutting their teeth at Vivienne Westwood and Preen respectively, Marques and Almeida took the natural course of combining talents while on the MA at Central SaintMartins – hitting the mark between impulse and consideration.

They launched MARQUES ‘ ALMEIDA in April2011 and showed for their first 2 seasons under Lulu Kennedy’s platform – Fashion East Since then, it has been awarded NEWGEN sponsorship from the British Fashion Council/Topshop and has shown the past 6 seasons on schedule at LFW.

Having had work published in magazines like VOGUE UK, ELLE UK, VOGUE PARIS, TWIN, TANK, i-D, DAZED & CONFUSED... MARQUES' ALMEIDA was refered by ELLE UK as the "new goto label for distressed denim". 

Discovered by Opening Ceremony and Joyce with their very first collection, the brand's stockists are now spread across London, New York, Los Angeles, Portland, Miami, Chicago, Milan, Stockholm, Beijing, Hong Kong, Seoul, Moscow, St Petersburg, Berlin and Melbourne including their capsule menswear collection stocked exclusively at Opening Ceremony New York, LA and London.

Recently they won the 2014 British Fashion Award for Emerging Womenswear Designers as well as the 2015 LVMH Prize.
