Global Fashion School Rankings 2016

Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology

Beijing, China

BIFT provides art, engineering and business education at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level. Fashion-related courses are taught at its Clothing Art and Engineering College. The school is well-connected with the domestic textile industry and offers a wide range of individual programmes responding to the industry’s need for specialised professions in textiles. Strongly linked with the state, the Institute was responsible for the uniforms at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the civilian parade for the 60th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. On an international level, BIFT maintains good relations with internationally-renowned fashion schools and conducts teacher and student exchanges. Undergraduate admission is highly competitive with only about five percent of applicants admitted, putting it at the same level as Central Saint Martins. Students in our survey rated the school’s courses in technical skills and digital technology above average compared to the scores of other schools in our survey. Most students also expressed they were satisfied with the school’s career services and the quality of recruiters attracted by the institution.
