The British Fashion Council and the short-form video sharing app will together work on the renowned talent identification scheme, which includes organising mentoring programmes, financial support and streaming opportunities for emerging designers. TikTok has also been named the host of NewGen’s events programme scheduled for London Fashion Week in September 2021.

NewGen, formerly run by the BFC in partnership with Topshop, has so far supported 250 designers including Alexander McQueen, Christopher Kane, Grace Wales Bonner, Jonathan Anderson and Simone Rocha. Last year, recipients included up-and-coming designers Ahluwalia, Bianca Saunders, Charles Jeffrey Loverboy, Richard Malone and Supriya Lele.
