All finalists of this year’s competition will get funding and mentorship, unlike in recent years past when three winners won the support at the end of the competition. The shift is part of The Council of Fashion Designers of America and Vogue’s response to the pandemic financial crisis in the fashion industry. Last year, the organization’s launched a fundraising initiative, A Common Thread, that raised over $5 million and donated to designers.

Designers, including those who have already participated in A Common Thread and the fashion fund, can apply after March 10. The fund is underwritten by Instagram, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Ave and Vogue.
