LONDON, United Kingdom — British retailer Quiz Plc said on Wednesday the number of shoppers walking into its fast-fashion stores has fallen this year, underscoring a muted UK high street ahead of Brexit, and warned that conditions were expected to remain difficult.

The update follows the company's annual results that showed pretax profit collapsed to just £0.2 million ($245,540.00) from £8.5 million a year earlier, and a profit warning in March that dragged the stock to an all-time low.

Surveys on Tuesday revealed that the average pace of sales growth over the past 12 months was the weakest since the British Retail Consortium began its data collection in 1995.
