Uruguay’s fashion exports for January fell to $2.3 million, down from $2.7 million in the same month last year, according to Fashion Network, citing data from the Uruguay XXI Institute, which tracks foreign investment and exports.

In its latest foreign trade report, the institute indicated that the fashion category (constituting clothing, footwear and other textiles segments) has started 2021 with a deceleration of 15 percent compared to January 2020. This caused the sector to slide two places in Uruguay’s export rankings, fashion is now only the 28th largest export segment for the South American country.
