In stepping into the newly-created role of style director at large at Harper’s Bazaar, Carlos Nazario will be responsible for styling the magazine’s covers and leading a team of creative collaborators, according to an announcement from the magazine’s editor-in-chief Samira Nasr.

Nazario also serves as i-D magazine’s global fashion director, a position he has held since 2019. He will continue in that role while fulfilling his duties at Harper’s Bazaar.

Nazario has been a champion for models and designers of colour, having styled the likes of Naomi Campbell, Rihanna and US Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Nazario was the first Black designer to style an American Vogue cover in 2021 and is recognised by the CFDA as a key shaper of the fashion industry.

”I’ve long admired Carlos’ work,” Nasr said in a statement. “He speaks to now in his approach to creating fashion imagery and the community he has built perfectly aligns with the modern and distinct vision we have for this iconic brand.”
