Power Moves | Luisa Via Roma’s New Chief Executive, i-D Names Global Editorial Director

The Italian e-commerce firm named Yoox Net-a-Porter Group vet Alessandra Rossi chief executive officer, while British Vogue’s Olivia Singer will join i-D.

Luisa Via Roma appoints chief executive. The Italian e-commerce retailer named Yoox Net-a-Porter Group veteran Alessandra Rossi chief executive officer. Rossi joins Luisa Via Roma as it’s set to target international expansion, look to augment its editorial offering and aim for a public listing following a €130 million (about $152 million) investment from Milan’s private equity fund Style Capital in September.

Olivia Singer joins i-D as global editorial director. The fashion editor — whose interests in the multicultural youth scene chime with the vision editor-in-chief Alastair McKimm has set at the Vice-owned style bible — will begin her new role on Nov. 1. She was most recently the fashion news director at British Vogue.

LVMH taps Dior’s Damien Bertrand to lead Loro Piana. The managing director at Christian Dior Couture will take over as chief executive of the Italian luxury brand, succeeding Fabio d’Angelantonio, a former Luxottica marketing executive who became Loro Piana’s chief executive in 2016, as the label looks to bounce back from the pandemic.

Valentino names new chief executive South East Asia and Australia. From her base in Singapore, Alessandra Andreani will be charged with building the Italian luxury brand in the South East Asia market, particularly Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and Thailand. She has worked for Marc Jacobs, Prada and most recently Loewe, where she was managing director of Loewe China.

GQ’s Adam Baidawi named head of editorial content in the UK. The men’s magazine’s deputy global editorial editor will now have a dual role, leading British GQ as well, Condé Nast announced Wednesday. The move is part of Condé Nast’s new consolidated global editorial strategy, and will see British GQ’s longtime EIC Dylan Jones leave after 22 years.

Cudoni hires former The RealReal retail lead as chief commercial officer. The luxury resale startup hired Michael Groffenberger, who was previously head of retail at The RealReal, as its first chief commercial officer. Cudoni’s chief executive James Harford-Tyrer said the company’s long-term goal is an IPO.

JCPenney names Marc Rosen chief executive officer. Stanley Shashoua, Simon Property Group’s chief investment officer, served as interim chief executive since January following Jill Soltau’s departure as the retailer navigated an exit from bankruptcy. Shashoua will become executive chairman of the board of directors when Rosen takes the post on Nov. 1. Most recently, Rosen was executive vice president and president of Levi Strauss Americas.

Estée Lauder Companies names Peter Jueptner group president, international. Jueptner, Estée Lauder’s current president, Europe, Middle East and Africa, will succeed Cedric Prouvé, who has led the cosmetic company’s international business for 27 years, effective Feb. 1, 2022. Prouvé will work alongside Jueptner during the transition, and retire on June 30, 2022. During Prouvé's tenure, Estée Lauder saw its international business grow from approximately 43 percent of the business to about 77 percent.

Dior promotes Olivier Bialobos. Dior Couture’s chief communication and image officer’s role will be expanded to include oversight of the label’s beauty segment as One Dior chief communications and image officer. He will continue to lead the Dior Maison business unit, and report to Pietro Beccari, chief executive of Christian Dior Couture, and Laurent Kleitman, chief executive of Parfums Christian Dior.

Levi Strauss & Co. names Sanjeev Mohanty senior vice president and managing director for US and Canada. The retail vet, who has worked with Global Fashion Group, the Jay Gee Group and the Benetton Group, will begin overseeing Levi’s “most complex commercial operations Cluster,” after serving as vice president and managing director of South Asia-Middle East and Africa for the denim brand, according to a statement by Levi Strauss.
