Power Moves | Tory Burch Hires Co-CEO, Brown Exits Carolina Herrera, Adidas Poaches Nike Designers

Tory Burch Hires Co-CEO
Roger Farah, who exited his role as executive vice chairman at Ralph Lauren earlier this year, has been tapped to join 'accessible luxury' fashion house Tory Burch. Farah, 61, has been appointed co-chief executive officer at the American label, effective Monday, and will report to Tory Burch, founder of the company, co-CEO and chairman. Farah was also appointed to the company's board and took an equity stake in the business. Burch's namesake company said that Farah's experience with international brands would help with its ongoing global expansion efforts. Farah spent 14 years at Ralph Lauren as president and COO. He joined Ralph Lauren from the Venator Group where he was chairman and CEO from 1994 to 2000. Previously, he served as the president and COO of Macy's Inc.

Carolina Herrera President Steps Down
After four years as president of Carolina Herrera, Caroline Brown has resigned from her position at the New York-based label and is thought to be in line for a top job at Donna Karan. Although the move has not yet been confirmed, market reports suggest that Brown may assume the role of CEO, succeeding Mark Weber. During her tenure, Brown helped the Herrera label achieve four consecutive years of growth and expanded the company in several directions, including digital and distribution. Prior to joining the Puig-owned label, Brown was CEO of Akris US and senior vice president of marketing and communications US at Giorgio Armani. Brown will leave her current role at the end of the year.

Adidas Poaches 3 Nike Designers
Longtime Nike designers Marc Dolce, Mark Miner and Denis Dekovic are leaving the company to join German sportswear giant Adidas. Confirmed by Dekovic and Miner on Instagram, the trio was hired as part of Adidas' plan to open a "Brooklyn Creative Studio" in New York. The studio, expected to open in 2015, "will drive design direction for the brand and elevate the company's direct interaction with consumers," said a statement issued by Adidas. Dolce is a 20-year veteran of the footwear industry, with experience across running, training, basketball, women's footwear and lifestyle. Miner, a familiar name to sneakerheads, is responsible for introducing the successful Nike Free Line, which has become a casual fashion statement. Dekovic, formerly Nike's global football design director, also comes with 20 years of footwear design experience and is credited with developing Nike's Mercurial 9, Tiempo 5 and Hypervenom soccer shoes, as well as the head-turning sock-boot hybrid Magista, which was developed in time for this year's World Cup in Brazil.

Spanx Promotes MacRae to Executive VP, Global E-Commerce
A few months following the appointment of Jan Singer as chief executive officer of Spanx Inc., the American hosiery company has announced the promotion of Jill MacRae to executive vice president of global e-commerce, effective immediately. Formerly vice president of marketing, MacRae will be responsible for strategic leadership and the positioning of the company in the global wholesale marketplace, in her new role. Prior to joining Spanx, she was director of sales and public retailers at Darden Restaurants. She has also held a variety of marketing and sales positions at Dunkin' Brands Inc., ClubCorp and Planet Hollywood.
