Japanese Retailer Adastria’s Q1 Sales Up 39%

The Tokyo-based company, which owns 26 menswear, womenswear and lifestyle brands, including Lowrys Farm and Global Work, reported a 39.4 percent sales boost to 46.3 billion yen ($415.6 million) in the first quarter of its fiscal year, from 33.2 billion yen ($298 million) the previous year, Fibre2Fashion reports.

Adastria was founded in 1953 and operates more than 1,200 stores in Japan and 68 stores internationally. Overseas sales in particular surged 18.4 percent during Q1; China led the curve with a 196.9 percent sales boost due to a major store opening in Shanghai.
