Paul Stoneham is leaving the Norwegian outerwear maker by the end of the year after serving as its chief executive since 2015.

Stoneham, who led Helly Hansen through a 2018 sale to the Canadian Tire Company, will remain in his role while the brand appoints and completes handover to a new CEO, the company said Wednesday.

Helly Hansen spearheaded the development of lightweight waterproof shells and synthetic fleeces during its 140-year history, and in recent years its “H/H” logo has helped it to capitalise on surging demand for items that combine a sporty, technical vibe with streetwear cred.

Helly Hansen’s sales more than doubled to NOK 4.3 billion ($510 million) during Stoneham’s tenure.
