Agenda-setting intelligence, analysis and advice for the global fashion community.
LONDON, United Kingdom — BoF has long been a trusted resource for educators, students and entrepreneurs, but now, for the first time, we have created a destination on BoF specifically dedicated to this part of our global community.
Today, we are pleased to unveil BoF Education, an online platform providing fashion students and entrepreneurs with insight into how the fashion industry works, online tutorials on how to grow their businesses and advice on how to advance their careers in fashion.
One of the most exciting elements of BoF Education is the Global Fashion School Rankings, part of a Special Report on The State of Fashion Education also being released today. To develop the rankings, we shortlisted the top fashion schools around the world and gathered quantitative and qualitative data directly from them to understand their education offerings. We also surveyed more than 4,000 students and alumni and conducted a global reputational survey of HR professionals and fashion influencers. The resulting rankings are available now at www.businessoffashion.com/education.
Today, we are also unveiling the first in a series of online fashion courses, developed with the needs of fashion students and aspirants in mind:
Fashion Business Basics, supported by River Island
Online video tutorials taking students through a practical step-by-step journey of building a fashion business from scratch, from writing a business plan to raising financing and building brand awareness.
Fashion Marketing & Communications, supported by The Communications Store
A series of articles about strategies at the cutting edge of fashion communications, including influencer marketing, experiential marketing and digital marketing, illustrated through real-life examples from leading brands.
Fashion History by Colin McDowell
Written by BoF columnist and fashion historian Colin McDowell, this series delves into the careers of the most important couturiers and designers — from Jeanne Lanvin to Yves Saint Laurent — that laid the foundations of the modern fashion industry we know today.
There is also a course on Fashion Entrepreneurship with practical advice from seasoned fashion entrepreneurs and Fashion A-Z, a comprehensive dictionary with definitions of key fashion vocabulary, written by Camilla Morton.
We hope that BoF Education will aid prospective students in making informed choices about pursuing higher education in fashion, act as a tool for universities and colleges to improve their education offerings and serve as a resource for the wider industry to engage in a discussion about the critical importance of fashion education.
We look forward to your feedback in the comments below.
