LONDON, United Kingdom — As Art Basel got under way this week in Miami Beach, we explored the ever-growing love affair between high fashion and the contemporary art world. In a two-part series, Hettie Judah examined how this movement has gathered steam over the past decade, when art fairs like Frieze and Art Basel began to attract interest, first from fashion designers and creatives, and then from the broader fashion community, including many of the industry's mega-brands. This has not always been well received by diehards in the art world, but as Hettie points out, "The fashion world doesn't just come to the fair loaded down with champagne glasses and Fendi Bag Bugs. It also brings cash, clout and a surprising sense of civic responsibility."

And, as we learned in part two, which goes inside one of the most prominent art and fashion tie-ups — last year's collaboration between Yayoi Kusama and Louis Vuitton — the intertwining forces of fashion and art can mean big business too. The Vuitton-Kusama collaboration was a major initiative, encompassing leather goods, ready-to-wear, shoes, sunglasses, watches and jewellery in 460 Louis Vuitton stores in 64 countries.

Here are some of our top articles from the week gone by:
