Power Moves | Ralph Lauren’s Digital Push, Abercrombie Chairman Retires

This week, Ralph Lauren taps Alice Delahunt for the newly created chief digital officer role, while Abercrombie & Fitch executive chairman Arthur Martinez will step down at the end of the fiscal year.

LONDON, United Kingdom — BoF compiles the most important professional moves of the week.

Ralph Lauren hires chief digital officer
Ralph Lauren Corporation has tapped Alice Delahunt for the newly created role of chief digital officer. Formerly director of digital marketing at Burberry, Delahunt will join the business in April and spearhead the expansion of its digital presence globally. Further appointments to bolster the digital team include Laura Porco as senior vice president, e-commerce North America; Valeria Juarez as senior vice president, e-commerce North America international; and Cyrus Fenton as chief information security officer.

Abercrombie chairman steps down
Abercrombie & Fitch executive chairman Arthur Martinez is retiring. He will step down at the end of the fiscal year, February 3. He exits the role after three years, and will be succeeded by the brand's lead independent director Terry Burman.

Hedi Slimane to Join Céline
LVMH has named former Saint Laurent artistic director Hedi Slimane as Phoebe Philo's successor at Céline. The designer will take on the title of artistic, creative and image director, and expand the LVMH-owned label's offering into menswear, couture and fragrance. Slimane will start his new role on February 1.

Seafolly names CEO
Swimwear label Seafolly has hired Paul Kotrba as its new chief executive. He joins the brand after more than 15 years at Donna Karan and DKNY, most recently as DKNY's commercial head. He succeeds Anthony Halas, who will remain a non-executive director and company shareholder.

Modern Meadow names CMO
Biofabrication company Modern Meadow has appointed Bridget Russo its new chief marketing officer. The former Shinola executive brings with her 20 years of brand building experience. In addition, former Michael Kors executive Anna Bakst has been appointed to Modern Meadow's board of directors.

River Island hires MD from Topshop
British high street label River Island has named Phil Cooke its new managing director of menswear and kidswear. He will join the company from Topshop, where he has served as managing director since 2015. He is due to start at the business in the spring.

Bay Garnett joins ES Magazine
The London-based publication has appointed Bay Garnett its fashion director at large. Garnett, who has consulted for brands including Louis Vuitton and Chloé and most recently served as a contributing editor at British Vogue, will be responsible for the magazine's cover shoots and main fashion stories.

Swipecast hires special projects lead
Peter Davis has been named head of special projects at fashion networking platform Swipecast. Davis previously served as editor-at-large of Paper magazine; he also spent time at The Daily Front Row as group executive editor.
