On July 4, just before Paris Couture Week begins, the brand returns to the runway for its first show since its namesake founder died in 2017, the brand confirmed to BoF.
Mulier, who the house of Alaïa announced in February would take over as creative director, worked for years alongside Raf Simons at his eponymous brand, as well as at Jil Sander, Dior and Calvin Klein during Simons’ tenures there.
The Alaïa brand’s July 4 show will include both ready-to-wear (for Spring 2022) and couture. At the time of his appointment, Alaïa chief executive Myriam Serrano told BoF, Mulier brings a “sharp eye for construction and a sense of timeless beauty.”
A representative for the brand said, “the date itself also carries special meaning for the Maison as the presentation will be held four years after Azzedine Alaïa’s last show in July 2017.”
