NEW YORK, United States — DVF has confirmed the appointment of Sandra Campos as chief executive officer, effective immediately.
Campos, who most recently served as co-president of women's apparel at Global Brands Group, overseeing brands including Juicy Couture, Bebe, BCBG, Herve Leger and Tretorn, has extensive experience across e-commerce, retail, wholesale and international channels of distribution. She fills the role left vacant by Paolo Riva, who left the company in November 2016.
"When I met Sandra, I was immediately impressed by her knowledge and passion for the business, her expertise in digital and her understanding of what DVF stands for. I am very excited that she accepted to lead the company in this disruptive and exciting moment in the industry," said Diane von Furstenberg.
"As the business continues to evolve, we are going to put our consumer first and focus on delivering unique, high quality product that not only fits her everyday lifestyle needs but also seeks to empower her,” said Campos. “The DVF brand transcends generational lines and we plan on expanding our community of women #InCharge through digital and socially connected experiences across all consumer touch points.”
While at Global Brands Group, Campos worked closely with Nathan Jenden, who recently rejoined DVF as chief design officer and vice president, creative, taking up the company's creative reins previously held by Jonathan Saunders, who resigned from the brand in December 2017.
“Sandra is a woman I have grown to respect and admire in our time working together,” said Jenden. “I strongly believe that she has a vision that complements my own for the future of DVF [and] I am very much looking forward to working with her on developing and shaping the brand for today’s consumer and for the next generation.”
DVF has recently faced new market challenges, from a waning wholesale model to the rise of social media-savvy direct-to-consumer labels, which are filching market share from the contemporary sector. The recent appointments of Campos and Jenden suggest that the brand may be repositioning itself to go more mass as it seeks investment. In December, Von Furstenberg confirmed that she was seeking a new partner to fund the company’s expansion efforts.
Campos will report directly to Diane von Furstenberg and DVF’s board.
