LOS ANGELES, United States — Jonathan Anderson, Alessandro Michele and Christopher Kane have all been nominated in multiple categories for The Fashion Awards 2016.

Dame Natalie Massenet, chairman of the British Fashion Council, announced the nominations during a brunch at Soho House West Hollywood, alongside Karlie Kloss, ambassador for the event's lead partner Swarovski, and Caroline Rush, BFC chief executive officer.

Roksanda Illincic, Simone Rocha and Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen are among the nominees for British Womenswear Designer, while Riccardo Tisci and Donatella Versace are nominated in the International Ready-to-Wear Designer category.

Burberry's Christopher Bailey joins Marco Bizzarri for Gucci and Comme des Garcons and Dover Street Market's Adrian Joffe in the category of International Business Leader, while Burberry is represented a second time in the nominations for Best British Brand, alongside Erdem and Stella McCartney.

Among the nominees for British Emerging Talent are Self Portrait, Molly Goddard and Alessandra Rich, while Craig Green, Grace Wales Bonner and Tom Ford are up for British Menswear Designer.

In April, BoF exclusively revealed that the British Fashion Council would be transforming its annual fashion awards into a global event, positioned as 'a mix of the Academy Awards and the Met Ball.'

Formerly known as the British Fashion Awards, the revamped event will have a new global focus, with awards honouring international talent from both the creative and business sides of the industry, and a bigger public audience. The BFC also plans to broadcast the event internationally. And, for the first time, the Awards will have an additional sense of purpose: raising money to support fashion education in the UK through the BFC Fashion Education foundation.

One of the new new categories, International Urban Luxury Brand, underlines the importance of urban and streetwear-led brands within the luxury fashion space, with Gosha Rubchinskiy, Off-White and Vetements among the nominees.

"The shortlisted nominees prove the incredible talent we are so fortunate to work with both at home and abroad," Massenet said in a statement. "This year’s ceremony will be thrilling and I look forward to welcoming all our guests to London and to what has become one of the most-anticipated highlights of the global fashion calendar.”

Nadja Swarovski, member of the Swarovski Executive Board, called The Fashion Awards "a truly global celebration of creative talent from Britain and beyond."

Five additional awards will be made on the night, celebrating career milestones and the role of creative influencers within the fashion industry. The winners will be announced at a gala ceremony at London's Royal Albert Hall on Monday 5th December, which will also serve as a fundraiser gala for the BFC Education Foundation charity.
