What skills are you looking for?

For this position, we’re looking for someone who has a strategic way of thinking. I think one of the most important skills [...] is to find someone who is very disciplined. [Another] important skill for this position is communication skills.

It’s not only communication skills in terms of external communication, but also within the organisation. The [successful applicant] will work across a lot of different departments aligning numerous communication initiatives. It’s not only important to get along with other colleagues, but to be able to put ideas and campaigns into words and actions.

What insights on the interview process can you share?

We give the final candidates [in the application process] a creative task. We ask them to come up with a pitch of how they would, in this case, set up a campaign for social media platforms, for example, a Pre-Spring collection campaign. This is to give us an idea of how the person thinks and how creative they are in the workplace. We’re looking to see how well the person is able to place themselves in the mind of the brand, and express what is relevant for Samsøe Samsøe.

I think it’s very crucial that the person can demonstrate actually how this person can contribute with their expertise, their competence to that specific position. And with that, how can the person give value to the company?

How can applicants stand out from their competitors?

Do your homework [...] about the company, about the brand, and about the position [and think] what is it that [you] can contribute to the company and to the brand? And exactly how can [you] add value into the company? You can really stand out from the crowd if you’re doing something creative with your resume, do something extra to make it stand out.

I think having this explorer mindset is so crucial for this role, because you have to look into the landscape of what is happening out there, how are other brands doing it? What are the new social media platforms that we need to look into post algorithmic? Why do we post here and not there? And then also being able to have this community management. I think it’s also important.

What advice would you give applicants applying for a role at Samsøe Samsøe?

Come with concrete ideas, thoughts and also motivation of why [you’re] interested in working with Samsøe Samsøe and also what [you] want to accomplish within the position and yes, your knowledge and interest within the company.

What is very refreshing is to either read or talk with someone who’s already done some significant thinking [and got their] head around the role. Already thinking of ‘how I can do this work if I was the one hired?’ So that is quite refreshing actually, talking to someone who actually comes with some concrete ideas and shows us how they can think strategically.
